Fårö is known for its rocky beaches, Ice Age limestone monoliths and most of all as home to Ingmar Bergman, one of the most internationally known Swedes of all time. Bergman lived and died on Fårö and several of his films were shot there. Some of his more than 40 feature films include ‘The Seventh Seal’, ‘The Silence’, ‘Wild Strawberries’ and ‘Fanny and Alexander’. Bergman was also prolific in the theatre.
